A right-handed wicketkeeper-batter and former Australia Under-19 representative, Cameron Bancroft first played for Western Australia in List-A cricket in 2011.

A first-class debut followed in 2013-14, when he played 11 matches as an opening batsman as the Warriors made it all the way to the Sheffield Shield final.

Test cricket came calling for Bancroft ahead of the 2017-18 Ashes, a series which saw him post an unbeaten 82 in his second innings at Brisbane.

Following the successful Ashes campaign, his next assignment was the tour of South Africa that followed. However, Bancroft’s series will long be remembered for his involvement in the sandpaper scandal during the Cape Town Test, which saw him slapped with a nine-month ban by Cricket Australia.

After returning to action he quickly worked his way back into contention for national consideration, being selected in the squad for the 2019 Ashes in the UK and opening alongside David Warner in the first two Tests.

Bancroft returned to state level where he resumed his standing as a prolific run-scorer, even re-inventing his short-form game to become a weapon in T20s as well.

He was a member of five of WA’s six titles during their historic three-peat between 2021-22 and 2023-24, missing only the final Shield final because of a concussion after falling off his bike.
