In the space of four overs, Scott Boland made himself an instant hero with his unforgettable 6-7 on Test debut at his home ground the MCG against England in the 2021-22 Ashes.

That remarkable performance earnt him the Johnny Mullagh Medal, as well as a second Test in Sydney where he claimed figures of 7-66 across two innings. 

But it's easy to forget the toil the right-armer went through to earn his Baggy Green. The Victorian made his first-class debut in late 2011, before he had a breakout summer in 2013-14, taking 19 wickets from nine Sheffield Shield matches. His consistent form then carried over to the 2014-15 season, where he collected 25 wickets.

That led to him making his ODI debut against India in 2016 at the WACA, following impressive performances in Sheffield Shield and domestic one-day tournaments.

Boland's reliable performances for Victoria earned him a surprise call-up to Australia's Test squad, as a standby player for the Hobart Test against West Indies in 2015, however he was forced to wait until Boxing Day 2021 to make his debut in the Test arena and begin what has so far been a scarcely believable career.

Boland was also a member of the XI for Australia's first ever World Test Championship final victory, where he took five wickets in the win over India in June 2023.

In the third match of Frank Worrell Trophy series of 2025, Boland bookmarked his fabled career with another accomplishment by taking a Test hat-trick against the West Indies.
