Kurtis Patterson started off his domestic career with a bang – his century on Sheffield Shield debut for New South Wales in 2011 came when he was 18 years and 206 days old, making him the youngest batsman to record a debut century in Shield history.
The lanky left-hander continued making progress over the years in domestic cricket, amassing 737 runs in the 2015-16 season – the leading run-scorer for his state that year.
In early 2019, Patterson earned his baggy green following centuries in both innings for the Cricket Australia XI – making his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Brisbane. In just his second Test in the same series, he scored his maiden ton, with Australia winning the series 2-0.
However Patterson was overlooked for the following series, the 2019 Ashes, and has been unable to regain his place ever since.
He was named New South Wales' captain for the Sheffield Shield ahead of the 2021-22 season and led his state for two summers.
'KP' has enjoyed success right throughout his career, winning the Shield in 2013-14, the One-Day Cup in 2016-17 and 2020-21 (as skipper) and the Big Bash League with the Perth Scorchers in 2021-22.
