With a cricketing pedigree like Craig Ervine’s, it is hardly surprisingly he ended up representing his country in the sport.
The middle-order batsman’s father and uncle both played first-class cricket in Zimbabwe, while his older brother Sean played five Tests and 42 one-day internationals for Zimbabwe before moving to England to play with Hampshire.
Ervine made his one-day international debut in May 2010 against India and has since accumulated more than 700 runs, including five fifties.
He played six games at the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and was the standout batsmen for Zimbabwe in the 2011 tournament.
After being dismissed for a duck by Australia’s Mitchell Johnson in his first appearance, he bounced back to score 231 runs in his next five innings - including three fifties.
