Regarded as the next big thing in Victorian (and Australian) cricket, Sophie Molineux enjoyed an unrivalled junior career.

Having served as the under-18 Victorian captain, the talented top-order batter and left-arm spinner also spent time learning from the state’s as a rookie in the VicSpirit squad.

In 2014, having just turned 16, Molineux was named Player of the Championships at the Under-18 Nationals. She was the highest run-scorer for Victoria with 155 runs and also claimed 19 wickets for the tournament, at an incredible average of just 3.9.

Molineux also flaunted her skill in WBBL, performing well for the Melbourne Renegades in the inaugural season of the WBBL.

In 2018, she made her international debut and was an integral part of Australia's success at the 2018 T20 World Cup.

Molineux then helped Australia to the 2020 T20 World Cup - and stole the show dancing with Katey Perry in front of 86,174 people at the MCG. 

Her leadership qualities were recognised on the domestic front when she was named Melbourne Renegades and Victoria captain.

Consecutive serious foot and knee injuries kept Molineux out of the Australian team for more than two years, but she fought her way back in and after impressing on the 2024 tour of Bangladesh, regained her CA contract.
