Hailing from Wingham in the central-north coast region of NSW, Maitlan Brown came through the Breakers’ junior talent pathways before hitting a roadblock, unable to break into the star-studded senior New South Wales ranks.

Leading into the 2016-17 summer, the then-20-year-old did not hold a state contract and had been informed she would not be part of that season’s NSW academy program.

But Brown was handed a second chance thanks to friend and ACT spinner Angela Reakes, who convinced the ACT Meteors coaches to take a chance on the quick.

She signed a rookie contract and ended up playing all six WNCL matches for the Meteors that summer, which in turn caught the eye of the Melbourne Renegades in the WBBL.

Twelve months later, Brown was playing for Australia A.

In 2021, she moved back to Sydney after signing a state contract with NSW, and after five years as a Renegade, made the move to the Sydney Sixers ahead of WBBL|07.

Brown has featured in several Australia senior squads since 2020, but has yet to make her debut in the green and gold.

Off the field, Brown is an industrial designer who has won awards for her creations, and a committed home gardener. She runs a podcast with NSW teammate Hannah Darlington called 'She's in the Game'.
