Batter
One of the brightest batting prospects in the country, Jake Fraser-McGurk is the heir to David Warner's opening position in Australia's white-ball sides.
An attacking and fearless right-handed batter, Fraser-McGurk has represented Australia through various underage teams including the Australia at the Under-19 World Cup in 2020.
He made his ODI debut against the West Indies at the SCG in February 2024, hitting a breathtaking 18-ball 41 at Canberra in his second match.
Aware of his potential, the Melbourne Renegades signed him up in 2018-19 as a replacement player in their BBL|08-winning run, awarded him a full contract the following summer but it wasn't until the one after that when he finally made his Big Bash debut for the club.
He had made his Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup debuts for Victoria in the early rounds of the 2019-20 season, making a 50 in both of his maiden appearances, all before his 18th birthday.
But the opportunities dried up in Victoria as he went unselected in the 2022-23 Shield season and played only four one-day matches for a return of 54 runs.
He moved to South Australia ahead of the 2023-24 season with the fresh start proving in an instant catalyst for a surge into national calculations, breaking the world record for the fastest List A century off 29 balls against Tasmania in October 2023 in his fourth match for the state.
His maiden first-class century followed against his former state the following month and a breakout BBL|13 campaign followed (257 runs striking at 158), prompting the Renegades to lock him up on a long-term deal as he was elevated to the national side for the first time.
Fraser-McGurk also proved an instant sensation in the IPL after being called into the Delhi Capitals squad for the 2024 season where he formed a tight bond with Warner, hitting five sixes in his 55 on debut before slamming a 15-ball fifty in his third match, the equal second quickest half-century by an Australian in T20 cricket.
