Talented wicketkeeper-batter Maddy Darke started her career in her native NSW, where she made her debut for the Breakers in early 2020 and played her first match for the Sydney Sixers later the same year.
But with Alyssa Healy holding the gloves at the Sixers, and Tahlia Wilson ahead of her in the NSW pecking order, Darke looked further afield for opportunities behind the stumps.
She spent one season with the Melbourne Stars in WBBL|07 before moving west to the Perth Scorchers a year later.
Darke also made the bold call to relocate to Western Australia, where she enjoyed a breakout WNCL season in 2022-23, scoring 475 runs atop the order to earn herself a call-up to the Australian A Squad’s tour to the UK in June 2023.
She had a superb 2023-24 WNCL as well, compiling another 458 runs which led to another Australia A call-up.
