Player Story
Chris Martin is the veteran of the New Zealand attack and will turn 37 during the second Test in Hobart. It seemed like he was heading for retirement after the home series against Australia in 2010, when he had just one wicket for the series, but he reinvented himself again in India with a dramatic five-wicket haul in Ahmedabad. The line-and-length fast bowler has been a key contributor ever since. Martin had taken 199 wickets in 61 Tests before the tour of Zimbabwe, putting him fourth on New Zealand’s list, not far behind Chris Cairns. He is also a record holder with the bat, having registered zero 29 times in 89 innings, the fifth best in the world.
