A tall left-handed opener, Conor McInerney got his first taste of Sheffield Shield cricket when he was picked to face Tasmania in March 2018.
He played every match for the Redbacks the following season, finishing his first full campaign with 434 runs.
A horror run of injuries followed, stunting his career and ultimately seeing McInerney lose his contract with SA.
For the final match of the 2023-24 summer, McInerney was rewarded for strong form for Woodville and Glenelg by being named to play his first Shield match in four years and regaining his South Australia contract for the following summer.
