Described as "the best leggie I've seen in first-class cricket since Shane Warne" by former Test spinner Ashley Mallett, Cameron Boyce has often been restricted by the seaming conditions at his home ground, the Gabba.

Having celebrated his second first-class appearance with six wickets in the 2009-10 Shield final, becoming the youngest player to take a five-wicket haul in a Shield decider, Boyce was used sparingly in the following seasons on wickets that favoured fast bowlers. 

He got more opportunities playing for Adelaide Strikers and then Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League, which earned him a call-up to Australia’s T20 squad to play Pakistan in the UAE in 2014.

He also impressed during Australia A’s winter series against India A and South Africa A in the same year.

Boyce made the move to Tasmania for the 2016-17 summer after being starved of opportunities at Queensland.

He made just one Sheffield Shield appearance in 2015-16, with emerging leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson the preferred option.

Boyce has played seven Twenty20 internationals for Australia and narrowly missed selection in the squad which competed in the ICC WT20 tournament in India in 2016.

He has represented the Hobart Hurricanes for the past three seasons in the BBL.
