Opener Jake Weatherald was rewarded with a South Australian contract for the 2016-17 season after a strong finish to the previous season which included registering half-centuries in both innings of the Sheffield Shield final against Victoria.
The left-hander from the Northern Territory became a regular for the Redbacks and notched his maiden first-class century against Tasmania the following November.
Weatherald showed he can dominate the short forms too, when he became the first player to score a hundred in a BBL final with his match-winning knock for the Strikers against the Hurricanes in BBL|07.
After seven season with South Australia, Weatherald made the move to Tasmania ahead of the 2023-24 summer.
While he wasn’t an immediate hit in his new state colours, he returned to form for the Strikers with a string of rapid innings during BBL|13.
