A leg-spinner who achieves good bounce, Karn Sharma was given just one international opportunity prior to being included in India’s Test squad for a tour of Australia.
He played for India in a T20 clash against England in September 2014, taking the wicket of Joe Root with figures of 1-28, and scoring 28 runs off 24 balls.
His first-class debut came in late 2007 representing Railways, but it was not until the 2012-13 season that Sharma began to attract a lot of attention. He won the BCCI award for the best under-25 cricketer that season.
Sharma signed with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2013 and had a solid season, taking 11 wickets in 13 matches, and repeated the effort in 2014, when he took 15 wickets.
