Having made his first-class debut as a teenager and taking on the captaincy at the tender age of 20, Cameron White quickly established himself as a player to watch.

A powerful batsman and leg-spin bowler, White made his international debut in 2005 but was in and out of the side for several years before he made his Test debut in India in 2008.

Sachin Tendulkar was his first Test wicket, but he failed to perform consistently and was dropped after the four-match series.

After enjoying success with Victoria, White finally established himself in Australia’s ODI squad as a batsman with a century against England in 2009 before he played a crucial innings in the 2009 Champions Trophy final, which Australia won.

Having enjoyed his time up the order, White also found himself at home when he was dropped back to No.5, scoring 105 from 88 balls against Pakistan in early 2010.

White then took over the captaincy of Australia’s Twenty20 side following the T20 retirements of Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke, and he also led the side in one ODI in 2011.

But after a horror summer with the bat in 2011-12, White lost the T20 captaincy to George Bailey and was dropped from both the ODI and 20-over teams.

Along with his time at Victoria, White has also shown his immense ability in English county cricket with Northamptonshire and Somerset and he has earned several big-money contracts in the Indian Premier League.
