Hailing from the western suburbs of Melbourne, Jordan Buckingham has quickly become a key pillar of South Australia's deepening pace attack after being rookie listed by the Redbacks ahead of the 2021-22 season.
With an uncanny resemblance to then-SA coach and Aussie great Jason Gillespie, Buckingham claimed 4-79 on first-class debut in the final match that season to help the state break a 16-game Sheffield Shield winless streak.
It was a quick rise in the pace pecking order from there – he claimed 15 wickets in five matches in his first full Shield season the following summer to earn a call up to Australia A's tour of New Zealand in April 2023.
The right-arm quick made an instant impression among national ranks with 6-58 in the second first-class match against New Zealand A before picking up another five wickets in the return series in Queensland four months later.
He was also selected to represent the Prime Minister's XI against the touring Pakistan side in December 2023 where he claimed another five-wicket haul, including the prized scalp of Babar Azam.
