Warner bowls, Stoinis returns in second T20

Down 0-1 in the three-game series, Australia make one change to their XI that lost to India in Ranchi

Allrounder Marcus Stoinis has been recalled to Australia's XI for the second Twenty20 International as the tourists look to avoid a series defeat to India in Guwahati.

Australia's stand-in skipper David Warner won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, which is hosting its first ever international match.

Stoinis comes in to the side for fellow allrounder Dan Christian, the only change Australia has made to the XI that lost by nine wickets in a rain-affected first T20 in Ranchi on Saturday.

India, who prevailed in the preceding five-game one-day international series 4-1, have named an unchanged XI from the T20I series-opener.

Amid intense focus on Ashes preparations, Warner insisted Australia's focus is firmly on the final two games of this series.

The Australians are looking to end a seven-match winless run in T20s against India, starting in Guwahati early on Wednesday morning (AEST) before the final match of the tour in Hyderabad later this week.

Warner, who is filling in for injured captain Steve Smith for the T20 leg of this tour, was praised by opener Aaron Finch this week for bringing a refreshing approach to the captaincy despite the defeat in Ranchi.

"I think it can be a totally different job when you're filling in for someone as opposed to when you've got the job yourself," Finch said.

"There's a lot more expectation and a lot more scrutiny around Steve as a leader because he does have the job in all three formats full time.

"It can be quite refreshing when another skipper comes in who doesn't have to worry about the off-field stuff quite as much as the regular skipper does.

"Davey did a fantastic job under the circumstances."
