All out for six.

No, that’s not a typo. That’s the new low score in T20 international cricket that was set by the African nation of Mali in an official women’s match against Rwanda on Tuesday.

On a day of records that may never be broken, Rwanda needed only four deliveries to secure a 10-wicket win after Mali were bowled out in nine overs.

Making Mali’s innings even more remarkable is the fact that only one of their batters, opener Mariam Samake, scored a run. Samake was dismissed for one, nine of her teammates registered ducks and extras contributed five runs – two byes, two leg byes and a wide.

The ICC ruled last year that all T20 matches between member nations would be granted international status, meaning Rwanda’s win counts towards official T20 International records.

The previous lowest score in T20 internationals was the 14 scored by China’s women’s team against the UAE in January this year.

The UAE’s victory margin in that match – 189 runs – remains a world record while Rwanda’s win on Tuesday is the largest in T20I cricket in terms of balls remaining (116).

All four of Rwanda’s bowlers in the match in Kigali City took a wicket, with Marie Bimenyimana the only bowler to concede a run. Bimenyimana finished with figures of 2-2 from three overs, while Margueritte Vumiliya (2-0 from three), Josiane Nyirankundineza (3-0 from two) and Veronique Iriho (1-0 from one) also got in on the act.
