Below is how the states reacted to news of the 2016-17 summer schedule

WACA Ground, Perth
First Commonwealth Bank Test v South Africa: November 3-7
Third VB ODI v Pakistan: January 19

The opening Commonwealth Bank Test match of the summer marks the first time since hosting Zimbabwe in October 2003 that the WACA Ground will hold the opening Test of the summer.

It comes as welcome news to a state that is home to about a quarter of the country’s South African expat population, and the time difference between WA and South Africa will allow for primetime viewing.

"WA cricket is currently undergoing an exciting and widespread transformation, particularly in relation to how it works with the State Government and the developing Perth Stadium. The decision to play the opening Test in WA is a sign of WA’s growing importance in the staging of international cricket.

"We look forward to welcoming both Australia and South Africa for the First Test and creating an enjoyable experience for their supporters."

Cricket Tasmania CEO David Johnston said CA and Cricket Tasmania were working closely to provide a range of content to attract new audiences to international cricket in Hobart.

"This is a real win for Tasmania as we have retained a Hobart Test match featuring South Africa for the upcoming summer at a great time during November," Johnston said.

"We have worked very closely with Cricket Australia to provide some certainty over international men’s content for the coming years, which we hope will grow interest and demand for attending international matches at Blundstone Arena, which is now a truly world-class venue.

"The Test match between Australia and South Africa presents a great opportunity for Tasmanian cricket fans to see two of the world’s great teams in action and the following year we can expect to see England venture to Hobart for a limited overs match during the Ashes Series."

Cricket Australia chief executive officer James Sutherland was at pains to point out the announcement of a 2018-19 Test match for Canberra did not spell the end of international cricket on the Apple Isle.

"We've had some extensive discussions with Cricket Tasmania over the course of the planning session we've had for this program and we've been able to provide some certainty for Cricket Tasmania and the Tasmanian cricket community over the next three years.

"There'll be a Test match against South Africa this year, next year and the year after (will be) limited overs contents.

"2017(-18) is an Ashes year so I'd be expecting England to play a one-day match or a Twenty20 match at Blundstone Arena. And then probably looking a bit further ahead to 18-19, we’ll get there with arrangements with visiting teams."

Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

"We have a fantastic Test match against South Africa in late November, one of the leading Test playing nations in the world and we’re going to see a great spectacle,” Bradshaw said.

"I can understand the trepidation (from players) given that they haven’t played pink-ball cricket under lights. Having said that, what we’re really trying to show is that this is about putting the fans first and we saw that last year with 123,000 people across three days here at Adelaide Oval.

"It is the way the game is heading at the moment and we are going to see more day-night Test cricket.

"I’m really hopeful that with the discussions between the two respective Boards we will see a day-night Test match and putting fans first; let’s hope we get a good outcome on that front."
