Michelle Goszko chats about her 204 in the 2001 Ashes Test which remains the highest score for a women's Test debutant
Baggy Green Queens: Michelle Goszko's historic double
Michelle Goszko is one of the most beloved figures in the cricket community, and she is the latest guest to join hosts Laura Jolly and Emily Collin on the Baggy Green Queens series.
Goszko, a dynamic batter who played 39 matches for Australia, unfortunately suffered a stroke in November. This episode was recorded in August, but Goszko is out of hospital and on the mend.
In 2001, Australia's women travelled to England for a two-Test Ashes series. Michelle Goszko had been included in the squad for the first time since being dropped in 1998.
On Test debut, Michelle made history with a blazing double century in Shenley. When Michelle walked off for 204, she had equalled the record for the highest ever women’s Test score and it remains the highest score on Test debut ever.
As mentioned in the episode Goszko's cricket family have set up a GoFundMe page to assist with her recovery. If you'd like to donate, click HERE
