Edwards, Waugh star as NSW win U19 final
NSW Metro have claimed the 2017-18 CA Under 19 National Championships title, cruising to a 120-run victory over the Cricket Australia XI at Blundstone Arena on Friday.
Sydney Sixers rookie Jack Edwards led the way, posting a superb century before eventually being dismissed for a 125-ball 147.
A useful 44 from Baxter Holt and unbeaten cameos from Joel Foster (26no) and Nathan Barker (20no) helped NSW Metro posted 6-296 from their 50 overs.
In reply, the CA XI reached 0-51 without loss before a piece of magic from Austin Waugh - son of former Australia captain Steve - saw opener Patrick Rowe run out courtesy of a direct hit, departing for 24.
Edwards, Waugh and captain Param Uppal claimed key wickets to have CA XI in all sorts at 5-90 and despite a defiant 42 from Damien Burrage, the CA XI were bowled out for 176 in 37.3 overs.
Uppal finished with 3-26 from eight overs, while Waugh added two wickets to his outstanding run out, taking 2-37 from seven.
