Maxwell returns to Hampshire

Aussie looking forward to playing T20 for Hampshire again

Australia allrounder Glenn Maxwell  has signed with Hampshire for their Twenty20 competition.

Maxwell, who has made 15 T20 appearances for Australia, played a key role in Hampshire's victory in the 2012 competition, averaging just under 38 with the bat in his 12 appearances.

The 25-year-old may also feature in other formats depending on the availability of South African seamer Kyle Abbott according to the club.

"I'm really looking forward to re-joining Hampshire after a year with Surrey in the T20s," said Maxwell

"I've made a lot of close friends from the Hampshire squad and management and I look forward to being part of another successful season with them."

Hampshire director of cricket Giles White added: "It's great to have Maxi back with us, he is an extremely popular figure here both amongst the playing group and with the supporters.

"His all-round qualities make him a great fit in what is shaping up to be an exciting T20 squad."

Maxwell will play for the King’s Punjab XI in this year’s IPL tournament before heading to the UK.

Last year he was the most expensive player, picked up in the auction by Mumbai Indians for $1m.
