Gilly-Cam takes on Lord's

Former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist has come as close as anyone to showing the average cricket tragic what it’s like to face some of the fastest bowlers in history, donning a camera on his helmet during last weekend’s MCC v Rest of the World match.

Celebrating 200 years of the Lord’s cricket ground, the match featured Australian speedsters Brett Lee and Shaun Tait; albeit a few years out of their prime, as well as Sachin Tendulkar, Shane Warne, Rahul Dravid and Brian Lara.

Gilchrist looked in fine form at the home of cricket, smashing six boundaries off the quicks in a 21-ball knock.

But his rapid scoring rate was arrested somewhat with the introduction of Saeed Ajmal.

Pre-empting his eventual demise, Gilchrist admitted he wasn’t entirely at ease against the Pakistan spin whiz.

“I’ve got no idea what to expect here,” Gilchrist confided in Bangladeshi Tamim Iqbal out in the middle.

“This is where I officially start to guess.”

Australia’s all-time leader in Test dismissals also had the opportunity for a bit of banter with history’s highest Test run scorer Tendulkar.

“There’s been a request for you to blow a kiss to all your fans,” Gilchrist told the little master.

Cementing his status as one of the all-time greats, Tendulkar kindly obliged.

The Lord’s match wasn’t the first instance of an Australian batsman adding a camera to their batting kit however, Shane Watson filming a training session in England last year via his helmet’s POV.
