Millions of cricket enthusiasts enjoy Aussie victory

Over 2.7 million cricket fans celebrated last night as Australia ended England’s torturous summer with a 3-0 whitewash in the KFC T20 INTL series.

Nine’s coverage of the Sydney match attracted a peak audience of more than 2.763 million and a national average audience of 2.054 million.

It was the highest rating Twenty20 game of the series across metro regions and the second highest all-time Twenty20 game against England.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia Live – the Official App recorded a massive 18.284 visits across the 12 matches this summer and is now on over 856K devices.

Yesterday’s final match wrapped with a peak of 182 tweets per minute after Australia’s 84-run win, with over 52,700 tweets sent out throughout the #AUSvENG T20 series.'

Sunday's T20 double-header also saw the one millionth fan come through the gates for an international match this season.

Andrew Wigglesworth won an opportunity to take part in the KFC Mega Classic Catches Competition at innings break, upgraded seats for himself and his three sons, a corporate hospitality package for the Sydney T20 International match in 2014-15 and a year’s supply of KFC.

"To be the one millionth cricket supporter to come and support the game this summer is just an amazing fact," he told cricket.com.au

"They (his boys) love their game of cricket, so this is something they have been looking forward to and we can't always get to as many as we like but this evening was an opportunity to come which is good."
