Warne memorial service captures emotions of MCG

An estimated 65,000 congregated the MCG to farewell Shane Keith Warne

The celebration of Shane Warne's colourful life has captured the attention of thousands at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with a touching memorial service also broadcast around the globe.

Taped musical performances by Elton John, Robbie Williams, Chris Martin and Ed Sheeran were screened during the service, with cricket greats, local sporting stars from other codes and a host of other famous faces and dignitaries present in the crowd.

"You're the greatest Australian that I know," West Indies legend Brian Lara directed to Warne. "I've always been honoured to be in your presence."
