ScorecardBBL draftee breaks Aussie hearts in Hundred Eliminator
London Spirit's dream of reaching the Hundred men's final has been crushed, with Laurie Evans blasting a superb 72 off 34 balls to steer Manchester Originals to a five-wicket win in their Eliminator final.
The Spirit, coached by Australian Trevor Bayliss, posted a competitive 7-150 at the Rose Bowl on Friday.
Hobart Hurricanes star Ben McDermott was the mainstay of the innings smashing 59 of 38 balls, an innings that included eight fours and a six.
After Adam Rossington fell to the second ball, McDermott and Zak Crawley got the innings rolling with a 69-run stand for the second wicket.
McDermott was imperious from ball two, which he thrashed over the square boundary before bashing the next ball through cover.

An enormous total was brewing, but the innings spluttered between balls 74 and 85, with McDermott's dismissal followed by captain Eoin Morgan first ball, Dan Lawrence (10) and Jordan Thompson also first ball as Spirit slumped from 2-109 to 6-121.
The run-chase is hotting up! 🔥

In reply, opening bat and stand-in captain Evans, who was retained by Perth Scorchers with pick 12 in last Sunday's KFC BBL|12 draft, got his side off to a flier with a 101-run stand with Phil Salt.
But a wobble caused by Mason Crane (2-35) and Australian Nathan Ellis (2-31) gave Morgan's side hope.
That went ⚡ QUICK! ⚡

The Hobart Hurricane removed Wayne Madsen and Paul Walter cheaply, but West Australian Ashton Turner (9no) guided the Originals over the line with 11 balls to spare.
The Originals will now face the Trent Rockets at Lord's in Saturday's final.
