Australia's fast-bowling hero of the first ODI misses out as the Ashes resumes in Melbourne ahead of next month's World Cup
Australia make two changes, England star left out
Beth Mooney and Darcie Brown, the heroes of Australia's Ashes-retaining ODI in at Manuka Oval, will miss the second one-dayer in Melbourne, with the hosts to bowl first after Meg Lanning won the toss.
Fiery England quick Katherine Brunt will also miss the game due to a minor side niggle.
Mooney left the field with a tight quadricep, the result of a corked thigh on the last day of the Test a week ago, during Australia's fielding innings on Thursday after hitting a game-high 73 in the low-scoring affair.
She did not join in Australia's training session at Junction Oval on Saturday and had been expected to be carefully managed with the ODI World Cup starting next month, and with Australia to enter a 10-day period of hard hotel quarantine on Thursday.
Brown, who took 4-34 as Australia defended 9-205 to officially retain the Ashes, is also being managed due to general soreness, with Nicola Carey and Annabel Sutherland coming into the XI.
Tahlia McGrath has been elevated to Mooney's spot at No.5.
England have made one change, with off-spinner Charlie Dean coming in for Brunt.
"I wouldn't be surprised if our staff took a little bit of a conservative approach with Moons just given how crucial she is to our line-up," Australia vice-captain Rachael Haynes said on Saturday.
While Australia's 27-run win on Thursday ensured they will retain the Ashes, the hosts are also desperate to claim the series outright and avoid a repeat of the disappointing end to their 2017 campaign.
Then, Australia also retained the Ashes with two matches remaining, but lost the final two T20Is to allow England to tie the series 8-8.
"We didn't finish off as well as we would've liked," Haynes said of the 2017 series.
"We played some good cricket but we just opened the door and it felt like we allowed them to finish pretty strongly, I guess walk away feeling like they drew the series.
"From our point of view, we want to make sure that we win."
