Marsh One-Day Cup final: All you need to know

The details and talking points ahead of Sunday's 50-over showdown between New South Wales and Western Australia

Who, when, where?

First-placed New South Wales host second-placed Western Australia tomorrow (Sunday, April 11) from 9.30am in the final of the Marsh One-Day Cup at Bankstown Oval.

How can I watch or listen?

The match will be streamed on cricket.com.au and the CA Live app, and broadcast on Fox Sports and Kayo. ABC Radio will also be broadcasting.

How did they reach the final?

The Blues are unbeaten from four matches plus one no-result, and they've been in ominous form throughout, with only Tasmania really pushing them at any point in the competition. WA meanwhile, have surged into the final off the back of consecutive thrashings of Victoria and Tasmania, having previously been hammered by Queensland and run close by wooden spooners South Australia. There's more to these form lines however, given…

What's the star power factor?

With the international summer done and dusted and the IPL underway, these two teams have been impacted in contrasting ways. Many of the Blues' best players were part of Test squad that was set to tour South Africa, so when that was cancelled, they became available for One-Day Cup duties. No fewer than nine WA players however, went to New Zealand for last month's T20I series, meaning Adam Voges' side was shorn of some serious talent. Now, the shoe is on the other foot; of those nine Australia reps, WA have had six return – D'Arcy Short, Jason Behrendorff (who will head to the IPL next week), Josh Philippe, Ashton Agar, Ashton Turner and Mitchell Marsh – while NSW are without Steve Smith, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Moises Henriques, Adam Zampa and Daniel Sams.

What's the latest?

Shaun Marsh will be missing for WA, after the veteran batsman pulled out of Thursday's game against Tasmania due to a family illness and did not join his teammates on their flight to Sydney on Friday morning.

For the Blues, Sean Abbott looks set to return to action from a hand injury, while exciting Sydney Thunder spin sensation Tanveer Sangha, who is uncapped at List A level, has been included in the squad. With the bat, Daniel Hughes hit a hundred just 11 days ago in this competition, boasts an incredible List A record, and has a cool head to suit the big occasion.

Who are the players to watch?

WA: It's six-and-a-half years since Behrendorff blew away the Blues with 5-27 in the 2014 final of this tournament and, given the way he ran through a quality Tassie top order on Thursday, he looks well placed to have another major impact. Philippe and Short both made single-figure scores in their return to WA colours and it's hard to see the same happening again; expect one of those two to play a decisive hand.

NSW: It might well be the battle of the left-arm strike bowlers. Mitchell Starc is of course a major threat in any match, let alone a white-ball final, and the Blues will be hoping he can wreak havoc with his pace and swing. The Aussie one-day king has only played once in this year's One-Day Cup, taking 3-46 against Queensland.
