Satterthwaite and Tahuhu expecting first baby!

Melbourne Renegades captain Amy Satterthwaite and her wife, fellow Renegades player Lea Tahuhu, have taken to social media to announce they are expecting their first child early next year.

Captain Satterthwaite will be unavailable to play in the upcoming season of the Rebel Women's Big Bash League, with the Renegades expected to announce a new captain and a replacement international player in the coming days.

While unable to play, Satterthwaite, will remain with the Renegades in a specialist coaching role for WBBL|05.

Tahuhu will continue to be available for WBBL|05 and will join the team ahead of their first fixture against the Adelaide Strikers on October 19.

Satterthwaite, who also captains New Zealand, has every intention of returning to the sport when the time is right.

“I feel I still have a lot to give to the game and look forward to working my way back with an eye on the 2021 ICC Women’s World Cup held in New Zealand,” Satterthwaite said.

Should everything go to plan for Satterthwaite, there’s every chance she will factor in a stint in Australia for WBBL|06 ahead of the World Cup which commences in January 2021.

Both Satterthwaite and Tahuhu are New Zealand internationals and played an integral role in leading the Renegades to their first WBBL final last year.

"First and foremost we are very excited for Amy and Lea," Renegades coach Tim Coyle told melbournerenegades.com.au.

"They are very popular members within the team and I know their teammates are absolutely thrilled for them."

"Amy has a great cricket mind and will be of great benefit to the squad, albeit in an off-field capacity.

"We're looking forward to having Lea lead our pace attack this season and we're confident we've got some strong captaincy options within the squad."

Alongside the two New Zealanders, the Renegades' list of marquee players includes Australia young guns Sophie Molineux and Georgia Wareham, as well as dynamic England batter Danni Wyatt.
