Miller to return to happy hunting ground Hobart

The Hobart Hurricanes have bolstered their batting stocks for BBL|09 with the signature of hard-hitting South African David Miller.

The 30-year-old is a veteran of 294 T20 matches, including 72 T20 internationals for the Proteas in the past decade, and boasts an impressive strike rate of 138.94 and average of 35.21.

Miller is the latest South African to agree to head to Australia this summer following AB de Villiers (Brisbane Heat) and Dale Steyn (Melbourne Stars) inking deals.

The Hurricanes now boast an explosive batting order with Miller, BBL run machine D'Arcy Short, Matthew Wade, Ben McDermott, George Bailey and James Faulkner.

However, Miller is set to play a significant role given the likes of Short, Wade and McDermott are expected to miss part of the BBL season due to international commitments.

Miller is a regular figure on the global T20 circuit and is no stranger to Blundstone Arena, where he crashed 139 from just 108 balls in an ODI win over Australia last year.

The left-hander is Hobart's second overseas signing after Afghan Qais Amed committed for BBL|09.

Miller comes to Hobart as a replacement for gun fast bowler Jofra Archer, who is expected to be unavailable during the tournament due to his national commitments with England.
