Kohli fined by ICC for excessive appealing

India captain Virat Kohli has been fined by the International Cricket Council after a code of conduct breach in his side's thrilling win over Afghanistan on Saturday.

A statement from the ICC confirmed Kohli was charged with "excessive appealing" during the 29th over of Afganistan's run chase for moving toward umpire Aleem Dar in an aggressive manner when appealing an lbw decision.

He admitted to the offence, meaning there was no need for a formal hearing, and the ICC issued him with one demerit point in addition to losing 25 per cent of his match fee.

Kohli now has two demerit points on is record, having been sanctioned in a Test match against South Africa in January 2018. Players are banned when they reach four or more demerit points within a 24-month period.
