Women's Ashes doco to air on Seven Network

The inside story of Australia’s quest to bring home the Women’s Ashes will be revealed in a two-part documentary to be aired on the Seven Network starting next week.

Beyond the Boundary follows Meg Lanning’s squad from the start of their campaign in Loughborough to the series finale in Bristol, through what turned out to be their most emphatic victory since the introduction of the points-based Ashes.

The documentary will screen across two one-hour episodes on November 28 and December 5.

Across an epic six-week campaign, Australia stunned their second-ranked Ashes rivals to win all but one match across the three legs of the multi-format series.

It was a campaign filled with highlights; from a nervous start in the opening one-dayer in Leicester where Australia edged home by two wickets, before their cause gained serious momentum in the third when Ellyse Perry’s record ODI figures of 7-22 to roll England for 75 in Canterbury.

The Australians then faced the unique situation of preparing for the one-off Test, a format they play just once every two years; with three players handed their maiden Baggy Greens before Perry struck her second Test century.

Meg Lanning’s record-breaking knock of 135no sealed a series win in Chelmsford, two matches later, they lifted the Ashes trophy once again in Bristol.

Far more goes into a successful Ashes campaign than the highlights seen from the crowd or on television.

Thanks to unprecedented access behind the scenes, Beyond the Boundary will take fans into the dressing rooms, team meetings to explore the inner workings of Lanning’s team.

But more than that, it reveals the unique personalities of the 15 cricketers who make up the world’s best team and paints a bigger story around the rise of the women’s game.
