Mayor of North Sydney has 'mare of a bat flip

The match between the Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat began in comical fashion after this bat flip attempt from the Mayor of North Sydney

Is this the best (worst) bat flip we’ve ever seen?

Admittedly, the field to choose from isn’t all that big, with the bat flip appearing in just one KFC BBL season and three games in the rebel WBBL|05. But boy, this was a doozy.

North Sydney Mayor Jilly Gibson had the task of flipping the bat to start the match between the Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat at North Sydney Oval.

The result had Sixers captain Ellyse Perry first fearing for her safety, and then bursting out in laughter.

Watch for yourself, and note how difficult it actually would have been to flip the bat… WITHOUT the bat even turning once!

This is not the first dangerous bat flip we’ve witnessed. In BBL|08, Shane Watson, Aaron Finch and Channel 7 host Andy Maher (common denominator here?) witnessed this outrageous attempt at the Sydney Showgrounds.
