Tour dates for South Africa confirmed

Aaron Finch's side will embark on a limited overs tour of South Africa during February and March next year

Australia will travel to South Africa in the middle of February next year for a limited overs tour that includes three T20 matches and three ODIs.

Cricket South Africa announced tour dates on Friday, with Australia's best players to take on the Proteas prior to the three-match home ODI series against New Zealand in March.

The first T20 against South Africa is scheduled for Johannesburg on February 21, the same date that the Women's T20 World Cup will commence in Sydney, when the hosts take on India.

Further T20 matches will be held in Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, before the three-game ODI series is held in Paarl, Bloemfontein and Potchefstroom.

Proteas too good in rain-hit match

Dates for this summer's KFC BBL season have yet to be confirmed, but the fact last season’s final was on February 17 indicates a similar finish this summer will result in no major clash between the Big Bash finals and the South African tour.

Cricket South Africa also announced the dates for a tour by England during the summer that will include four Tests, three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals.

The Test series will start in Centurion on December 26, followed by South Africa’s New Year Test at Newlands in Cape Town, starting on January 3.

The remaining Tests will be in Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg.

England will play two warm-up matches before the Tests, a two-day game against an Invitation XI and a three-day match against South Africa A. Both fixtures will be in Benoni.

Cricket South Africa chief executive Thabang Moroe said the series would have special significance, "as this will be our first home series in the ICC World Test championship following our away series in India in October."
