Pattinson skips BBL clash due to wedding

The quick will sit out the Heat's next game of BBL|08 due to personal reasons

Brisbane Heat paceman James Pattinson will miss Saturday night's KFC BBL clash against Hobart on the Gold Coast due to best-man commitments at the wedding of a close friend.

Pattinson made his Heat debut in their loss to the Strikers on Wednesday night but will miss Brisbane's second match of the season, with left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann coming into the squad.

"James let us know immediately that there was a clash and we were comfortable with him fulfilling his personal commitment," said Heat General Manager Andrew McShea.

"As a club we do our utmost to ensure that the players and coaches who are with us during the BBL and WBBL feel supported and happy. They are highly professional individuals and we look to back them in the same fashion.

"Our next game is on New Year's Day at Metricon Stadium so James and the others will benefit from some time to reconnect with family and friend as well as maintain their preparations."

The Hurricanes will also be without their big-name paceman Tymal Mills after the Englishman injured his hamstring in a warm-up match on Thursday.

Kuhnemann made his one-day debut for Queensland earlier this year and joins a squad that already features leg-spinners Mitchell Swepson and Mujeeb Ur Rahman for a match that's expected to favour the slow bowlers.

"The Metricon Stadium wicket will play differently to the Gabba and so it will benefit Chris (Lynn) to have that option when we have a good look at the pitch in the lead-up to the match," said Heat coach Daniel Vettori.

The Hurricanes have two spinners, Johan Botha and Clive Rose, in their 13-man squad.

Meanwhile, Perth Scorchers have brought Will Bosisto into their squad to face the Sixers in Sydney on Saturday, the right-hander taking the place of skipper Mitchell Marsh.

Marsh will link up with Australia's Test squad in Melbourne as he looks to force his way into the XI for the Boxing Day Test.

Bosisto wasn't orginally in the Scorchers 18-player squad, but T20 scores of 111 and 83 in Western Australia's Premier Cricket competition last weekend saw him signed as a replacment player for Shaun Marsh.

The Sixers have named a squad featuring six potential debutants including Englishman Tom Curran, WA wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Philippe and young leg-spinner Lloyd Pope.
