'Visionary' coach and former captain Ricky Ponting will share his expert analysis and opinions with fans this summer and beyond
Ponting returns to Cricket Network
Australia coach Justin Langer says Ricky Ponting "sees things in the game that I couldn't even dream about seeing", and those insights will be available on the Cricket Network every day during this summer's Domain Test series against India.
Ponting has signed a multi-year deal with the Cricket Network to provide fans his expert analysis and opinion on key moments this summer, and next year during Australia's World Cup and Ashes campaigns in England.
"He's an outstanding coach, like he was a great player," Langer told cricket.com.au of Ponting, who recently worked with Langer and the Australian team.
"He sees things in the game that I couldn't even dream about seeing, so strategically he's brilliant.
"He's obviously well admired, he communicates really well with the players.
"He actually sees things a lot of people don't see, so Ricky is welcome into the Australian cricket team every single day of the week - no matter what."
As well as analysing the key moments from every day of Test cricket, Ponting will be looking back on some of his favourite highlights and memories of playing against India.
Ponting's content this summer will be brought to fans with the support of Gillette.
"It's great to be working with the team at Cricket Network again this summer," Ponting said.
"I'm really looking forward to an intriguing match-up against the Indian team and also seeing Big Bash take another step forward."
The new deal extends his brilliant commentary as a Cricket Network pundit last summer during the Ashes series, where he correctly predicted a 4-0 result and Alastair Cook's revival ahead of the English veteran's epic double century at MCG.
Langer said Ponting was "brilliant for us in England" as he assisted with Australia's one-day and T20 teams during the winter, working with the batters on technical issues, sharing ground fielding tips and game strategies.
Ponting, who played 168 Test matches and scored 13,378 runs in the longest format of the game, will also commentate for cricket's new free-to-air broadcast network Seven in Australia this summer, splitting his time between Test and Big Bash cricket.
