Star quick Mitchell Starc has been named to play his first Twenty20 at any level since September 2016 in Australia's series-deciding Gillette T20 INTL against India at the SCG.

Starc, who has played just three 20-over matches since the end of the 2015 Indian Premier League, has replaced fellow quick Jason Behrendorff in Australia's XI.

The left-armer was a late addition to Australia's squad on Saturday in place of the injured Billy Stanlake and has been rushed straight into the side.

Australia, who won the toss and elected to bat first, lead the series 1-0 and victory tonight will secure them their first series win in any format since last summer's Ashes.

The Aussies are relishing the prospect of another bumper crowd, even if the majority of fans are supporting the opposition once again.

Rain spares Aussies in second T20

Heavy rain affected games in Brisbane and Melbourne, with the latter abandoned following 19 overs of Australia's innings, but the wet weather failed to keep crowds down.

More than 31,000 fans flocked to the Gabba for the series opener while the MCG attendance on Friday night was 63,439.

India's fanatical supporters were the vocal majority in both crowds and another big turn out is expected on a perfect night in the Harbour City.
