An outfield screamer from the Brisbane Heat allrounder the highlight for St Kitts as Guyana claim a four-wicket win
Stunning Cutting flies but Guyana claim win
Brisbane Heat allrounder Ben Cutting took one of the catches of the tournament but the athletic effort was in vain as his St Kitts & Nevis Patriots side lost to Guyana Amazon Warriros by four wickets in a nail-biter in the Caribbean Premier League.
Cutting hurled himself in the air at deep long-on to reel in one-handed catch and dismiss Amazon Warriors No.5 Cameron Delport for 36.
However, the brilliant piece of fielding was quickly forgotten as Guyana inched closer to the St Kitts total of 7-168 as the overs trickled down.
Cutting took another gutsy catch backpeddalling near the boundary rope as the Amazon Warriors, through Sohail Tanvir and Australian Chris Green, survived a number of missed run outs to squeeze home a win with one ball to spare.
Chris Gayle had earlier hit three sixes in his 40 to get the Patriots off to a flyer, but his wicket brought about a collapse of 5-31.
Cutting launched two huge sixes late in the innings to lift his side to 168 as leg-spinner Imran Tahir picked up 4-22 from his four overs.
The Australian picked up two wickets with the ball, but Guyana kept chipping away at the total to the frustration of the home side.
Three runs were needed from the final over, and after singles on the first and fourth balls – both of which could have led to run outs – a third miss at the stumps from the penultimate ball handed the Amazon Warriors the win.
