Young opener faces anxious wait for results of scans on finger injury before learning fate after being hit batting for Lancashire
England's Hameed injured in county start
England batsman Haseeb Hameed faces a nervous wait to discover the extent of the hand injury that forced him to retire hurt during his opening first-class game of the season for Lancashire.
Hameed, who made a solid start to his England career during their tour of India, was forced to retire hurt after facing 23 balls in Lancashire's game with Cambridge MCCU on Sunday.
The 20-year-old was struck on the hand by right-arm quick Tim Moses, playing just his second first-class game for the Cambridge University team.
Hameed was taken to hospital for a scan on his hand but returned to the university's Fenner's ground some four hours later.

Lancashire said the batsman would be reassessed on Monday morning, and England supporters will hope the damage isn't severe enough to stop him making a strong start to the English county season.
Quick Single: 'Fate' hands England teen dream debut
Hameed scored 219 runs in three Tests against India before a finger injury forced him out of the final match of the five-game series, which England lost 4-0.
It was unclear if the new injury was a recurrence of that same injury that curtailed his involvement in the India tour last December.

He hit an unbeaten 59 from 156 deliveries while batting with a broken finger during the third Test in Mohali.
Hameed also played three matches for England Lions in Sri Lanka in February, but managed just 78 runs in six innings.
England do not play Test cricket again until a four-Test series begins in the UK in July.
