Hazlewood, Kohli top ODI rankings

Australia fast-bowler Josh Hazlewood has stormed to the top of the International Cricket Council's one-day international bowling rankings.

After collecting nine wickets in three Champions Trophy matches, including the best figures in the tournament's history against New Zealand, Hazlewood jumped four spots to the No.1 spot on the ODI bowling rankings, the ICC revealed Tuesday.

It will be of little consolation given their early Champions Trophy exit, but Australia now have two of the top three ODI bowlers on the planet, with only South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir (who remains in second spot) now separating Hazlewood with his pace partner Mitchell Starc on the charts.

Hazlewood takes over from Kagiso Rabada at the ODI bowling summit, with the Proteas pace gun dropping to fourth.

AB de Villiers meanwhile has been displaced at the head of the ODI batting rankings with India maestro Virat Kohli, previously in third, swapping places with the South Africa skipper.

Below Kohli in second spot remains David Warner, the only Australian among the top 10 batsmen.

The Indian right-hander returns to the top of the batting pile for the second time in his career following two half-centuries in the group stage of the Champions Trophy.

In the team rankings, South Africa remain the No.1 ODI side in the world despite their group stage exit in the Champions Trophy, while Australia and India remain No.2 and 3 respectively.

Following their undefeated run in the Champions Trophy so far, England have risen one spot to fourth, overtaking New Zealand, as they eye their first-ever piece of major 50-over silverware.

With the Proteas now eliminated from the tournament, India have a shot at unseating them at the top of the rankings. To do so, the Champions Trophy titleholders would need to beat England in the final. Defeating arch-rivals Pakistan in the final won't be enough for Kohil's side to topple South Africa.

In other movement on the individual rankings, teenage spin sensation Rashid Khan has shot up the bowling charts into the top 10.

After taking 7-18 against West Indies last week - the fourth-best ODI figures of all-time - Afghani Rashid gained a remarkable 18 places to now sit in seventh spot.

England seamer Liam Plunkett likewise has risen, leaping into the top 10 for the first time in his career by gaining seven spots and moving to ninth.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has jumped four spots to fifth on the batting rankings, but his Australia counterpart Steve Smith remains stuck outside the top 10, dropping one spot to 12th.

Shikhar Dhawan's strong Champions Trophy form has been rewarded as he rose five spots to 10th position on the batting charts.
