Marsh should've gone to Specsavers earlier

One of Cricket Australia's newest sponsors has delivered an unexpected benefit on the field, playing a role in Shaun Marsh's match-winning century in Adelaide last week.

Specsavers was unveiled as CA's Official Eyewear and Eye Care Partner in early November and aspart of the new deal, the Australian Test players were offered free eye checks leading into the second Magellan Ashes Test.

The test revealed Marsh had a minor eyesight problem and he was encouraged to wear contact lenses for the clash at Adelaide Oval.

Which he did for almost six hours at the crease as he peeled off an unbeaten 126 to help Australia secure a 2-0 series lead.

Marsh's former teammate Mitchell Johnson relayed the story during Triple M's commentary of the third Test on Saturday.

"They said his eyes were quite bad," Johnson said. "He couldn't really see the ball, I think he was just guessing.

"He's never worn contact lenses in his life, and he decided to wear them the day he got his hundred.

"I just find that absolutely phenomenal, because I wore contact lenses when I played in the back half of my career and the depth perception changes. I don't know how he's done it. It would be unbelievably hard to do it.

"I just don't get it. But that's Shaun Marsh for you. He just goes out there, he doesn't really care, he just plays his game. Contacts or no contacts."
