Big Bash 'All Stars' heading to the PSL

Less than a fortnight after the 2016-17 KFC Big Bash League came to an end, the domestic T20 caravan will continue on this week with the start of the 2017 Pakistan Super League in the United Arab Emirates.

Sixteen players who played in BBL|06 will feature in the second edition of the PSL, a five-team tournament featuring 24 matches in less than a month.

For a bit of fun, we've compiled a Best XI of those BBL|06 stars who will take part in the PSL, a side featuring three Australians.

1) Brendon McCullum (Brisbane Heat & Lahore Qalandars)

BBL|06: M: 8 | Runs: 323 | Ave: 46.14 | SR: 170.89 | 50s: 3 | HS: 72

After guiding the Heat into the BBL finals this summer, one half of the Bash Brothers will captain Lahore in the PSL and will be one of their key batsmen at the top of the order.

2) Jason Roy (Sydney Sixers & Lahore Qalandars)

BBL|06: M: 4 | Runs: 92 | Ave: 23.00 | SR: 161.40 | 50s: 0 | HS: 40

The Englishman wasn't at his absolute best in his short stint with the Sixers in the BBL, but looks set to form an exhilerating opening partnership with McCullum having been called in to replace the injured Dwayne Bravo, although he will depart the tournament early for England's one-day international tour of the Caribbean.

3) Kevin Pietersen (Melbourne Stars & Quetta Gladiators)

BBL|06: M: 8 | Runs: 268 | Ave: 38.28 | SR: 128.28 | 50s: 2 | HS: 73

The Englishman will sit out this year's Indian Premier League campaign but will be a key player for Quetta alongside his Melbourne Stars teammate Luke Wright and will enter the tournament in some reasonable form, too.

4) Eoin Morgan (Sydney Thunder & Peshawar Zalmi)

BBL|06: M: 5 | Runs: 159 | Ave: 39.75 | SR: 125.19 | 50s: 2 | HS: 71*

Just like he was in BBL|06, England's limited-overs captain will only be available for the first half of the tournament before he departs for international duty. Peshawar can only dream he'll finish his PSL campaign like he did in his time in the BBL ...

5) Shane Watson (Sydney Thunder & Islamabad United)

BBL|06: M: 6 | Runs: 104 | Ave: 17.33 | SR: 136.84 | 50s: 1 | HS: 55

Wkts: 7 | Ave: 18.42 | Econ: 7.16 | BBI: 3-23

The Australian veteran will return to the UAE this year to again link with last year's champion team, Islamabad United. The allrounder wasn't at his absolute best during BBL|06, but remains an absolute class act in Twenty20 cricket.

6) Kieron Pollard (Adelaide Strikers & Karachi Kings)

BBL|06: M: 8 | Runs: 145 | Ave: 18.12 | SR: 146.46 | 50s: 0 | HS: 47

Wkts: 7 | Ave: 19.00 | Econ: 8.86 | BBI: 3-30

The West Indian was below his best for the Strikers in BBL|06 but remains one of the most feared T20 batsman in the world, and also offers a more-than-handy option with the ball.

7) Brad Haddin (Sydney Sixers & Islamabad United)

BBL|06: M: 10 | Runs: 140 | Ave: 17.50 | SR: 138.61 | 50s: 0 | HS: 38

Haddin has had an interesting summer so far; he swapped his 'keeping gloves after the BBL for a coaching role on Australia's recent tour of New Zealand but will return to a playing role with Islamabad this month.

8) Chris Jordan (Adelaide Strikers & Peshawar Zalmi)

BBL|06: M: 5 | Wkts: 9 | Ave: 17.55 | Econ: 9.29 | BBI: 3-24

The Englishman provided a few highlights for the Strikers - partciularly in the field - in a disappointing BBL campaign for them and will be looking for more of the same ahead of a possible early departure for England's tour of the West Indies.

9) Chris Green (Sydney Thunder & Lahore Qalandars)

BBL|06: M: 8 | Wkts: 7 | Ave: 28.14 | Econ: 6.79 | BBI: 2-26

The Aussie off-spinner is still yet to make his first-class debut, but his economical bowling for the Thunder has earned him a shock late call-up for his first major overseas tournament.

10) Sunil Narine (Melbourne Renegades & Lahore Qalandars)

BBL|06: M: 8 | Wkts: 13 | Ave: 19.23 | Econ: 7.81 | BBI: 3-27

The West Indian was superb for the Melbourne Renegades in BBL|06, affirming his place as one of the best limited-overs bowlers in the world with a 13-wicket season, while he also added some handy runs with the bat.

11) Samuel Badree (Brisbane Heat & Islamabad United)

BBL|06: M: 5 | Wkts: 5 | Ave: 26.00 | Econ: 6.50 | BBI: 2-20

Like Green, Badree's effectiveness with the ball is underlined by his superb economy rate rather than his wicket-taking ability and he's sure to be a handful on the turning wickets of the UAE.
