Smith loses toss, Aussies bowl in Dhaka

Australia are set and ready for their first Test in Bangladesh since 2006

Australia will bowl first in Dhaka after captain Steve Smith lost the toss on the morning of day one of the first Test.

Smith's bowlers will get first use of the Shar-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium pitch having announced the tourists’ playing XI on match eve.

Top-order batsman Usman Khawaja and left-armer spinner Ashton Agar have been recalled to the side in place of veterans Shaun Marsh and Stephen O’Keefe, who played in Australia’s most recent Test in India back in March but were not selected in the 14-man squad for Bangladesh.

Speaking on Saturday, Smith said he expects the pitch to turn more and more the deeper the match goes.

"It's pretty dry," Smith said.

"I think they had some practice on that wicket a week or so ago, so it's been used.

"They've put some grass clippings down to make it look a bit greener than what it is but it's pretty dry underneath

"I dare say it'll be pretty slow and take some spin, particularly as the game goes on."
