Australia allrounder suffers side strain and will be assessed ahead of June's Caribbean tour
Marsh heading home from IPL
Rising Pune Supergiants and Australia allrounder Mitchell Marsh is the latest casualty in the Indian Premier League.
Marsh is heading home after he was ruled out of the IPL with a side strain.
Quick single: Warner accepts blame for WT20 failure
"Mitchell experienced some pain over his left abdominal area whilst batting at a training session with his team Pune in the IPL a few days ago," Cricket Australia Sports Science and Sports Medicine Manager Alex Kountouris said.
"He missed his team's next game and the pain has not resolved. He had scans in India that suggest he has a side strain injury and will now return home for further assessment and treatment ahead of the Qantas Tour of the West Indies.
"Once we have a better understanding of the extent of the injury we will be able to advise on his return to play timeframes."

Marsh is one of a long list of high-profile players to be ruled out of the lucrative T20 tournament.
The 24-year-old joins Pune Supergiants Kevin Pietersen (calf) and Faf du Plessis (finger) in the injury ward, along with Kolkata Knight Riders allrounder John Hastings, Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner Samuel Badree and Mumbai Indians quick Lasith Malinga.
Marsh had been in fine form for Pune after he was bought for a cool $1 million in February's IPL auction.
In three matches this season, the right-armer claimed four wickets for the new IPL franchise while conceding a frugal five runs per over.
The injury to Marsh is another blow to MS Dhoni's side, who sit in sixth place on the IPL ladder with two wins from seven matches.
Pune have drafted in prolific Australian batsman Usman Khawaja to cover the loss of Pietersen, but they are now on the lookout for replacements for Du Plessis and Marsh.
Australia's next assignment is one-day international tri-series against the West Indies and South Africa in the Caribbean starting on June 3.
