Victoria seal big win over arch-rivals

The Bushrangers romped to a 198-run victory over NSW on the final day of their Shield clash at the SCG

Victoria have clinched their third Sheffield Shield outright win from as many matches with a crushing 198-run over NSW at the SCG on Sunday.

The Bushrangers bowled out the Blues for 192 half an hour after tea on the final day.

Resuming on Sunday at 1-39, NSW never seriously threatened to get close to their target of 391 on a wearing wicket.

Pacemen Chris Tremain and Scott Boland each picked up three wickets and spinner Jon Holland and allrounder Dan Christian both claimed two scalps.

Hughes fights for Blues with half-century

Opener Daniel Hughes topscored for NSW with 54 and the Blues' highest partnership of the innings was a sixth-wicket stand of 40 between Nic Maddinson and Moises Henriques.

Hughes, NSW and Australian captain Steve Smith and Kurtis Patterson were all dismissed by deliveries which appeared to keep low.

Tremain knocks over captain Smith

The Blues lost three wickets in the first session, with nightwatchman Nathan Lyon dismissed in the fourth over and Smith and Patterson also falling before lunch.

Hughes fell to the third delivery after lunch, ending his 174 minute and 153 ball occupation of the crease.

Tremain snags seven against his former state

Maddinson (33) and Henriques (37 not out) displayed some defiance but the steady Bushrangers attack gnawed away at the bottom half of the Blues order through the middle session, during which four wickets fell.

It was the Blues' first outright loss of the season after they won both of their first two games.
