Proteas given pink-ball warm-ups

South Africa will play two pink-ball tour matches in the lead-up to their day-night Test against Australia this summer.

The visitors will meet a Cricket Australia XI in a day-nighter at the Adelaide Oval on October 22-23 ahead of the three-Test series.

They will then meet a Victorian XI in a two-day day-night clash at the MCG on November 19-20, just a week out from the pink-ball Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval.

South Africa's cricketers originally put up stern resistance to the idea of a pink-ball Test being incorporated in their tour.

They are yet to play in such a fixture, and argued a lack of preparation could become a problem in a potentially series-deciding match.

However they changed their stance in June, and these two matches are now likely to be their main preparation for the Adelaide clash.

Their preparation will be similar to the one afforded to New Zealand last summer, who were granted a day-night fixture against Western Australia and a one-day pink ball clash with the Prime Minister's XI in Canberra on their arrival.

Meanwhile Australian Test players should be available to play in opening-round pink-ball Sheffield Shield matches beginning on October 25.
