Kohli fined for dissent in India-Pakistan clash

Virat Kohli has been slapped with a hefty fine by the International Cricket Council for showing dissent at his dismissal in India's Asia Cup match against Pakistan.

Kohli was fined 30 per cent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the ICC's Code of Conduct for dissent at the umpire's decision to give him out leg before wicket in the 15th over of India's innings.

Kohli was on 49 when he was struck on the pads by Mohammed Sami. Clearly unhappy with the decision, Kohli held up his bat to indicate he believed he had edged the ball, and then continued to remonstrate as he headed from the pitch, and, according to the ICC "uttering some words that were contrary to the spirit of the game".

Kohli admitted the offence and was duly punished by ICC match referee Jeff Crowe.

Kohli was also caught on cameras swearing during India's stint in the field when a decision failed to go India's way.

Slow motion replays of an appeal against Pakistan's Khurram Manzoor clearly showed the Indian player mouthing a Hindi curse that prompted television commentator Harsha Bhogle to remark: "No chance of misreading what Virat Kohli was saying."

However, Kohli was effusive in his praise of Pakistan pace sensation Mohammed Amir after the match.

"I actually congratulated him while he was bowling," Kohli said.
