Cup pressure perfect for Faulkner

Allrounder excited for finishing on the biggest stage

Allrounder James Faulkner is confident he can continue to perform at a high level in his role as Australia's premier closer in the pressure-cooker atmosphere of the 2015 ICC World Cup.

Faulkner, 24, has earned a reputation as a clinical finisher with bat and ball over the course of his 33 ODI appearances and is up for the challenge on the biggest stage of his career.

"That's my role - to bat and bowl at the end of the innings," Faulkner said, after he was included in Australia's 15-man squad on Sunday.

"I've said before that there are going to be times when I stuff that situation up, but I've just got to stay as relaxed as I can and do my job for the team.

"There are obviously big crowds and a lot of pressure, but I just try to stay relaxed and think the situation out."

Faulkner said it would be important for both he and the team to build momentum during the tri-series tournament against India and England heading into the World Cup.

The focus on Australia will be intense as the host nation, but Faulkner believes the positives will far outweigh any negatives.

"It's going to be a massive moment in Australian sport," he said.

"I think it's definitely a plus any time you get to play at home, at grounds that you're used to and you're comfortable playing at.

"I think it's going to suit us very well."
