Get your kit on! A look at World Cup uniforms

Australian Gold is back my friends as we take a look at all teams' 2015 kits and recall some previous offerings

The World Cup has been the scene of some of the cricket’s most exhilarating and devastating moments since the first tournament in 1975.

Likewise, team uniforms have seen their fair share of high and lows.

The last time the World Cup was held in Australia and New Zealand in 1992 marked the first tournament where teams wore coloured clothes.

Check out what the 14 World Cup hopefuls will be wearing this time – and some of their more memorable kits from previous tournaments.

Australia have brought back the Aussie Gold for 2015.

Drawing upon Australia's proud history in the 50-over game, the squad will revert to a predominantly gold Asics playing kit, similar to those worn in their successful 1999, 2003 and 2007 World Cup campaigns.

Australia have recently worn a mostly dark green uniform for home one-day internationals since the 2006-07 season.

When the current uniform was unveiled, Michael Clarke said he welcomed the return to the all-gold uniform.

"The World Cup is the pinnacle of the one-day game, so to unveil our uniform today ahead of such a big tournament is special moment," Clarke said.

India's kit for 2015 is quite similar to those the team has worn of late, predominately blue but with the addition of thin pinstripes.

Star batsman Virat Kohli was full of praise for the new uniform in January, saying he was pleased with the cut of it.

"The one thing that I stressed for the past couple of years was the fit. I like a T-shirt looking nice and snug," he said.

"I think as a sportsman if you are fit you should have clothes that look good on you."

England

England's kit is a return to the style of strip worn during the 2003 World Cup: a navy blue design with a thin red trim around the collar and the edge of the sleeves, a change from their recent turquoise.

The kit also features a lion design across the middle, a take on the three lions motif used in the England Wales Cricket Board logo. England are fighting for a maiden World Cup victory, having not reached a semi-final since the last time the tournament was held in Australia and New Zealand in 1992.

Pakistan

Pakistan’s World Cup uniform is a return to the bright green which they wore on their way to World Cup success in 1992, and which also featured in their 1999 kit, after dark green attire featured at recent tournaments.

New Zealand have come a long way from the grey uniforms that featured in the 1992 and 1996 World Cups.

This time, the tournament co-hosts are wearing a predominately black kit, but have veered away from the traditional black-and-white theme, adding a coloourful splash of blue which makes up the back of the jersey and features a silver fern motif.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s World Cup uniform features the traditional blue and yellow, but in a lighter blue, patterned design that is a step away from the strip featured when the team finished runner-up in the 2011 tournament.

South Africa

No surprises in the Proteas’ strip, which features a similar green-and-yellow design to the one worn in January’s ODI series against West Indies.

West Indies

West Indies have stuck with tradition for the 2015 World Cup with a maroon kit with yellow trim.

To find the team’s most inventive World Cup uniform, a trip back to 1999 is necessary.

At that tournament in England, West Indies stepped on to the pitch in a maroon outfit that featured a large palm tree and sun.

Zimbabwe’s World Cup kit features a much brighter red with yellow trim, a change from the darker red with green trim featured in December’s ODI series against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh's uniform is a variation on its recent ODI kit, with a lighter green to that worn in the last World Cup.

Tournament uniforms worn by Bangladesh have dabbled in the full green palette over the years.

Ireland

Ireland are gearing up for their third consecutive World Cup in 2015.

When the tournament gets underway, the rest of the squad will be sporting the eye-catching, bright-green outfits.

The squad’s new shirt is a change from the darker green worn by the team in the previous tournament, but still features green and blue and the obligatory clovers.

United Arab Emirates

A darker grey with red trimmings will feature in the United Arab Emirates’ gear for their second World Cup.

The team’s 1996 uniform was light grey in colour, as was the kit donned by the squad in November’s ODI series against Afghanistan.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan’s maiden World Cup uniform is similar to the kit the team has worn in previous matches: blue with red, yellow and black.

Scotland

Scotland's World Cup uniform has yet to be revealed, a closely guarded secret ahead of the team's opening match against New Zealand on February 17.
