Young allrounder hoping to make a permanent mark in Baggy Green as series opener looms
First Test Marsh's time to shine
Confident that Western Australia can overcome Tasmania on a deteriorating pitch in the Sheffield Shield, Mitch Marsh already has an eye on next week's Test.
Named in the Australian squad to take on New Zealand in the three-match series starting on Thursday at the Gabba, Marsh has had a good warm up in Hobart, where the hosts are chasing down 352 for victory on the final day.
On Friday he took 2-31 with the ball and notched up an unbeaten half-century from 64 deliveries in a performance which helped WA set the Tigers a target of 380 for victory at Bellerive Oval.

"It's been coming out pretty well," Marsh said of his bowling.
"It's been nice to bowl a few overs here and really get into some rhythm and I'm just really looking forward to next week now."
Since his Test debut in the United Arab Emirates 12 months ago, Marsh has gone on to play seven matches in Baggy Green but is still to truly establish himself in the side.
The allrounder has collected nine wickets at 34 and posted a lone half-century to average 28 with the bat.
With the likes of James Faulkner and Moises Henriques looking to press their claims in the allrounder spot this Sheffield Shield season following the Test retirement of Shane Watson, Marsh will be well aware that wickets and runs will be the only things that guarantee his place in the Test XI moving forward.
Also helping WA to its second innings 4(dec)-136 on Friday was Michael Klinger, who followed up his first innings double-ton with 50 not out from 58 deliveries.

The story wasn't so bright for Shaun Marsh, who after learning of his omission from the Australian squad on Friday, went on to be dismissed for just one early in WA's second innings.
While Mitchell Johnson, Adam Voges and Mitch Marsh each got a call up, the latter said there were others from the Warriors camp – namely Cameron Bancroft, Klinger and Shaun Marsh – who were disappointed to miss out.
"It's certainly disappointment for both them and us as a team," he said. "We want as many blokes from WA representing the country as we can.
"And obviously for Shaun to miss out as my brother, very disappointing for him, but hopefully he will fight his way back into the team and score some runs throughout the summer."
