Sydney Sixers captain penalised for slow over rate in Big Bash League final
Henriques banned by Cricket Australia
Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques has been handed a one-match suspension after being penalised for his side's slow over rate in Wednesday's KFC T20 Big Bash League final against Perth Scorchers.
Cricket Australia said the Sixers were one over behind the required rate during their last-ball loss at Manuka Oval and given it was the second time the Sixers have been penalised for a slow over rate this season, Henriques has been banned for the opening match of the next BBL.
However, the allrounder will be eligible to play for Sixers during this year's Champions League Twenty20 in India.
While Cricket NSW CEO Andrew Jones indicated that the Sixers will appeal (see tweet below), a spokesperson told cricket.com.au the club will consider their options next week.
@CAComms So @SixersBBL took 5 min too long in the #BigFinal . Was Casablanca 5 min too long as well? I think we'll appeal that thanks!

They have until February 11 to appeal the decision.
Each member of the Sixers' playing squad was also fined $500 for the breach, but that amount will be reduced to $250 if the franchise does not appeal the decision.
The ban added insult to injury for Henriques, who missed a run out chance on the final ball of the over that would have forced the match into a Super Over.
He was also at the centre of a costly error in the 18th over of the run chase when the Sixers were no-balled for breaching fielding restrictions, which ultimately cost them nine extra runs.
Henriques did, however, give his side a fighting chance for the win with a brilliant innings of 77 off 57 balls after the Sixers had collapsed early in their innings.
